Criffel Station is one of central Otago’s hidden gems and invites you to explore, taste and learn all that this working deer farm has to offer.

Half day or full day excursions can be customed designed to suit your individual requirements and desires. There’s something for everyone, in any season, in fact there’s so much to do you many need to extend your visit – we highly encourage spontaneity!

The Learn Experience

Guests get a true taste of ‘behind the farm gate’ and will be guided around Criffel Station where they will learn about the Criffel Station journey from the historic days of gold mining, the station’s inception, through to today as one of New Zealand’s leading models of the farm of the future.  As a working deer farm, guests will experience farm operations while also witnessing Criffel Station’s One Health principle – working towards the interconnected optimal health of water, environment, animals, and people – in action. It is our intention to share our deep knowledge and cultivate community. The Learn experience is perfect for travellers who are eager to embark on a one of a kind adventure that places an emphasis on sustainability, regenerative agricultural practices, and the power of community.

A Taste Journey

Experience a soul-nourishing guided culinary exploration across the elevated hills of Criffel Station with a local expert who will uncover the hidden delicious treats only visible to a deeply knowledgeable forager and chef. As you journey along the dramatic lands taking in views of awe and wonder, your palette will relish land inspired tasting breaks and curated meals, that will create memories for a lifetime. Central Otago is a region well known for its unrivalled landscapes, innovative artisans and world-renown producers. The diverse, and at times extreme, climate is ideal for growing crops iconic to Central Otago from grapes to cherries to nuts, to name a few. Based on your interest, your tasting journey can be curated to include premium winemakers, award-winning distillers, chefs, local food producers and more.

An Exploration Excursion

The elevated Criffel Station property provides endless views looking out across the Lake Wanaka basin to the majestic Aspiring Alps from our lush rolling hills and sweeping Pisa mountain range location. This is a property well known in the area but one which few have had the opportunity to explore in-depth. There are moments of grandeur and awe alongside tight valleys and surprising canyons. This is a land like no other. It is a land to explore. This is Central Otago. Our goal is to ensure your experience transforms you – leaving you with a sense of feeling alive and more connected to the land called Aotearoa then ever before.
